Nisshin Takoyaki Flour Mix 500g

Bring the taste of Japan to your kitchen with Nisshin Takoyaki Flour Mix. This specially formulated mix contains powdered dashi (bonito and konbu seaweed extract) and pickled ginger, enhancing the authentic flavor of your takoyaki. With this flour, you can achieve perfectly crispy takoyaki on the outside and a deliciously gooey center.

What is Takoyaki?

Takoyaki is a beloved Japanese street food, consisting of savory ball-shaped pancakes typically filled with octopus. The word "Tako" means octopus, and "yaki" means grilled or cooked. You can customize your takoyaki with various fillings such as squid, shrimp, cheese, or vegetables, making it a versatile dish for any palate.

Key Features:

  • Authentic Flavor: Includes dashi and pickled ginger for a rich, savory taste.
  • Easy to Prepare: Just mix with water and your choice of fillings for a quick and satisfying meal.
  • Customizable: Create your perfect takoyaki by adding your favorite ingredients and toppings.

Instructions:

  1. For making 30 pieces, prepare 150g of the flour mix, 450cc of water, 1 egg, and 50g of octopus or your preferred fillings.
  2. Mix the flour, egg, and water in a bowl until well combined (the mixture will be watery, which is normal).
  3. Heat your takoyaki plate to 230-250°C and fill the holes with the batter up to 80% full.
  4. Add your chosen ingredients into the holes, then top with more batter until it overflows.
  5. Once the dough turns brown, start twisting it to form ball shapes.
  6. When cooked, top with takoyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, katsuobushi (bonito flakes), and aonori (seaweed) for an extra flavor boost.
